Resequencing container moves

You can change the sequence of planned container moves any time before locking the moves. However, changing the sequence affects current and planned locations, and in some cases, it may be easier and more sensible to revert containers and replan them. For example, when you plan the load, the new sequence may appear fine in the planned location, but it may scramble the yard fetch sequence and create unnecessary rehandles. Therefore, when resequencing planned containers, make sure that the new sequence is logical for both current and planned positions.

The default starting sequence number is 1, but you can change it to any number. By specifying the start number, you can plan for special cases, such as twin lifts. The flexibility of creating gaps and duplicate sequence numbers requires diligent planning. Depending on your configuration, XPS may create more than one work queue for the discharge. If so, XPS does not allow you to resequence all the containers unless you combine the multiple work queues into a single work queue by using the Add or Append commands, as described in Adding and appending planned moves (on page 1).

Predefined work patterns (PWP) affect how planned containers are sequenced to stowage positions on the vessel. If your operation uses predefined work patterns (included with the Quay Commander option), see the manual Navis N4: Vessel Administrator and User Guide.

See also Example of discharge planning from a mixed bay (on page 1).

To resequence planned containers:

  1. In a section view, from the Icon Format drop-down list, select Sequence.

  1. With the Power Flow tool , select the containers that you want to resequence, in the required sequence.

  2. In the Resequence dialog box, change the sequence number if required.

  3. Click Resequence.

XPS resequences the containers in the order in which you selected them, beginning with the start number.
